Change

The big C word. Change is ironically one of those things that remains constant in our lives; we see it and can expect to experience it often. Sometimes it can be bad and sometimes it could be good. Change can be the sign for so many things but my personal favourite is that change can be a sign of GROWTH - yes you are growing and that’s why you are changing. You can’t grow and remain the same, it doesn’t work like that. That’s why we often have old friends or people we used to know, saying things like: “Oh, you have changed so much” um like duh, I’ve been working on myself - if I was still the same person I would be worried because all my work would be in vain.

But there are a few things that I think we all need to know and accept regarding change:

  1. Change isn’t easy, but it’s also not as difficult as you think

Let’s get into it – Change, like other things in life, is something that can be drastic and dramatic or subtle and progressive. It’s definitely a step that may bring some discomfort, it is that discomfort that sometimes makes it difficult to accept because let’s face it, who wants to be uncomfortable? Sometimes though, you just have to think of the comfort coming (in the sense that you are getting where you want to be and heading towards a goal which you are comfortable with, however the journey itself requires some sacrifices that are just *ugh*) and pass through the discomfort you may feel in the moment in order to reach that state you are hoping to achieve. This is the reason I believe that change is often so difficult, however if you make that choice and think “Yeah I am heading to this destination and even though I get sea sick I am not going to choose to jump off this boat because land is in sight”.

  1. Change can be lonely

Yes, change is something that I believe that you go through by yourself (depending on the type of change in question) but even if you are changing with someone, you still have internal work you need to do by yourself and sometimes you can’t even express what it is you feel regarding the change you are going through. But I want you to know that you are not alone; we have all had to make some adjustments that we needed to make or were forced to make but know that at the end of the tunnel there is light and we are all in the dark together, hold your head up high and keep going sweetie, you’re doing amazing ;)

  1. Change can be painful

More specific to my first point, I want you to picture it this way: Imagine you are a caterpillar changing into a butterfly and you are in your cocoon by yourself, cramped in that tiny bubble with no friends, no entertainment, no movement just you in there for however long butterflies are in there (I didn’t pay attention in class as you can see, pay attention in class kids...you may need it for when you are writing a blog someday). Back to my point: You need to go through some things that are not so fun and may require sacrifices to get before it becomes this beautiful work of art that everyone admires and looks up to. So sometimes when you are running on the treadmill, or up late at night working on your little project that everyone thinks isn’t a great move or you are trying to paint your bedroom cause you want a renovation but DIY is the most affordable I want you to keep pushing, keep going and keep believing because you can reach it and you are almost there, JUST KEEP PUSHING.

  1. Change is constant

I don’t think this one needs an explanation but I will just say this: Everything changes and it’s often out of your control, but you can control the level of change you have in each aspect as well as how much room for change you allocate. On top of this, also make sure that the change that happens is INTENTIONAL, that way you are more likely to be satisfied with the change that comes your way.

  1. Change is scary

It can be easily the scariest thing you may have to confront in life. But you know what’s scarier? Not living life on your terms because you were too scared to do what you needed to do. I don’t know about you, but that’s scarier for me. What’s the worst that can happen if you make the change you are considering? You would fail? And then what’s so wrong with that? You could lose some money? And then what’s so wrong with that?

What’s funny is that the thing stopping you from making that change can happen regardless so why not just go for it and whatever happens, happens. We will cross that bridge when we get there.

I think I’ll end things here. Change is something that I can go on and on about but we don’t have time for that lol. Now go on and take on your day or night depending on when you are reading this and make a change today, in the world, in you, in your family and friends but be intentional with it.

By lovelies *muah*.
